GreatCall is the company that is responsible for the Jitterbug phone, which is a simple and easy to use line of cellular phones that is targeted towards seniors and other people who are not as familiar with the complex wireless technologies on the market. The simplest cell phone that GreatCall created is the Jitterbug OneTouch, which is intended especially for people who just want a phone for emergencies. This GreatCall product is a smart choice for those who want the security of having a cell phone in their car, purse or pocket just for when they need it.
GreatCall knew that there were people who wanted cell phones for safety, but were put off by the highly complex product offerings that saturate the wireless market. The team at GreatCall had senior citizens and older people in mind when they created the Jitterbug OneTouch, but it is appropriate for anyone who just wants to have a communication device but don’t want all the bells and whistles. GreatCall designed the phone so users can reach a live Jitterbug operator who answers by name, simply by pressing a button that says “operator.” They can also call 911 by pressing one simple button, and there is a middle direct dial button personalized by the user with their home number, tow service, or any other in-case-of emergency number.
GreatCall made this phone so there would only be three buttons, so it is as easy as possible to use when an emergency occurs. GreatCall knew that people might still want to sue the phone for regular calls sometimes, though, so they designed the OneTouch with a programmable personal phone list that operators have access to. GreatCall also gave the OneTouch large back-lit and bright easy-to-see buttons, soft ear cushion, and hearing aid compatibility for better sound quality. And to make things even simpler, the design team at GreatCall made the phones with “yes” and “no” action buttons instead of confusing icons, and helpful onscreen hints for user.
